Good is good enough, right?

A good resume is 'good enough', right?

Not when there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of great resumes that are better at persuading the hiring manager to email them for an interview.

Most of the resumes I see come in to me at an average of 43 on our resume impact algorithm. Our algorithm assesses overall format, impact, brevity, and core elements readers look for when scanning (yes, scanning. few read every word on your resume). And I'd define most of them as "decent to good." Those resumes also aren't getting noticed by employers. There's a reason why people come to me when their resume is "good," but they've been job searching for months.

An exceptional resume can accelerate your career, take you to the next level, increase your compensation, and boost your confidence.

Updating your resume again can feel daunting. You've edited and edited and it's still.. good. You don't have to throw the whole thing out, start with a simple reframe.

3 immediate changes to make to your resume:

🔸 Highlight impact and accomplishments, not duties.

🔸 Write your resume for the role you want, not the jobs you've had.

🔸 Weave a persuasive narrative with data to underscore your impact, competencies and unique strengths.

These are also changes that Chat-GPT can start for you, but you'll need to refine and edit to reflect human persuasion, preferences, and contexts.

The challenge is that not every applicant tracking system follows the same process, not every company uses an applicant tracking system, and every hiring manager is persuaded differently. That's why it's important to work with a resume advisor that also knows today's hiring managers.

Need a boost? I get it. It's often hardest to write about ourselves.
